OK, it's been awhile.
A lot has happened I suppose, but life has gone fast. I'm graduating in May and still trying to figure out where to go from college. Production seems like a risky biz to get into unless it's at a company, like a news station. I've been doing a number of shoots for a Music Biz professor at Loyola, which has had mixed results. Good promised pay, but much (ridiculous) delay in receiving said pay. I worked a lot of shoots, particularly in January, but then a lot of nothing at other times. I was thinking of staying with that work for awhile after graduating, but it doesn't seem enough to carry over into a full-time job, not to mention the issues with geting paid timely. Still doing work on my uncle's Investor site as well to offset living costs and such. I'm looking around for other possible jobs in production, but perhaps work in something else would cause less stress and would allow me to afford the needed equipment to create videos that I'd enjoy making and have more control over.
My main concern as of late has been keeping up with coursework. My classes were more on the backburner this semester until the last month, but I've kept up with the workload. I'm graduating summa cum laude, and I'm ready to move on. Move on to 'what' is unknown, but I'm working on that as I go.
My car has been pretty costly in repairs since December, but I guess it needed work being a '96 Buick. It gets me around. I want to save up for a good video camera, now considering an HD camera...but that'll be awhile. Considering the need for a good editing computer and software, I'm not rushing on it yet. But one day.
Richard Cheese, Ministry, and Birthday Massacre/Mindless Self Indulgence are upcoming concerts (April/May) that I may attend. All are recommended for their concert showmanship.
The old man is doing well. Mykie and I got him into playing Wii Sports Bowling (and recently Tennis), and his right arm is noticeably more mobile. We've slacked off a lot during this Spring, since Mykie's been busy with work and such and I've been not home much, but my Dad frequently visits my uncle whose sons have a Wii. He beats them in wii bowling. I need to get Smash Bros. Brawl, and I might just since I'll have some free time (and maybe money) over spring break next week.
I got a passport in about two and a half weeks. Very unexpected considering people's wait stories, but I guess I applied at the right time (no expedite, either).
I read Chris Jericho's "A Lion's Tale," and it was an awesome book. Entertaining stories of my favorite wrestler's life...hell yeah. Highly recommended, even to non-wrestling fans since it's a coming of age story involving world travel.
Crack a window open, will ya?! |

| Summer Recap of Doooooooooooooooom |

Summer has had its moments this year, and though I have not really accomplished anything huge as I would have liked, there have been many great moments. I needed the break since this was my longest period without classes and the constant dealing with shit since returning to Loyola's Spring I last year. It's been part-time work and dealing with shit, but I've had the chance to enjoy life more than I have in awhile. I've also had time to think, though too much of that is not a good thing, so I try to leave it behind.

OK, my peeps got it down today. The Advanced Digital Production class' final projects will be screened on Friday, May 4 in Bobet Hall Rm. 332 at Loyola. It will begin at 5 pm and go until we finish. My film Vigilance will probably be one of the later ones played, but I'm not sure exactly when it'll start. I'm getting more excited as I get closer to finishing with editing. Just need to get through seven more days with that and everything else...but the semester's almost through. |

Tomorrow (Tuesday) night, 1718 is hosting another reading in the Columns Hotel starting at 6:30 PM. This time the featured writer will be Poppy Z. Brite, who apparently is retiring from writing after this reading (so I've heard from Professor Martin). It will be followed up by students readers much like last time (though I'm not one of them this time of course).

Concerts, since it's been awhile: Saturday, Feb. 24 at HoB – Cradle of Filth (and others) Tuesday, March 13 at HoB – Black Label Society |

Next Tuesday night (1/16), I'll be reading some of my poetry from last semester for the Loyola/Tulane Reading Series called “1718.” The Columns Hotel (3811 St. Charles Ave.) is hosting the event. It starts at 7 pm, featuring the writer Christine Wiltz who will read some of her work and have a Q&A session. After that, four student writers (including me) will read their work. It's 2 Tulane students and 2 Loyola students with about 5-10 minutes each. I presume that there's catering or food of some sort, mainly since my poetry workshop professor mentioned there'd be cocktails when I spoke to him today about what to read for the event. Come check it out if you can. |

Happy Holidays to all of you, here's something for you to enjoy:
( Dr. Mario Clause Pics and AMV Link )
Mykie brought the parents and me to see “Night at the Museum” today, which was a fun movie. Mom and Dad really enjoyed it, and I felt like a kid again. It's one of those good, corny movies that calls to the inner-child and reminds me of why I want to direct and write. Granted, it's not a genre that I'd probably create in, but the enveloping feeling from watching it is what I want to produce. Now, time for dinner with more family, so have a good one people. |

I'm done, I'm tired, and I'm relieved. But the “I'm done” is most important.
The semester's over, but for me, it's mainly that the year is over. Spring I, Spring II, and Fall semesters have taken their toll. The bad of this year has taken it's toll. I need a new year, and I'm working on resolutions.

So now a short time of rest has come, and I'm more than grateful. I guess I'll graze the bits of fun and such I've had since last post:
( October and November )
Ten Songs I'm digging these days As per Moose's request:
1. Killswitch Engage - This Fire Burns (CM Punk's Theme) 2. My Chemical Romance - House of Wolves 3. VNV Nation - Chrome 4. Slipknot – Left Behind 5. Funker Vogt – Tragic Hero 6. The Cure - Lullaby 7. She Wants Revenge – Spend the Night 8. Combichrist – Get Your Body Beat 9. Disturbed – Sons of Plunder 10. Alice in Chains – Lying Season
I'm ready for eggnog and rest. Still much work to do and catch up with, but it'll fall between. Let me know if you people want to do anything over break. I may be busy some days... |

First off, MC Chris is playing in New Orleans this coming Wednesday (10/18). Mykie told me he was just coming to Baton Rouge on Tuesday night, which was kind of inconvenient. But, since I looked it up, we get some nerdcore closer to home at The Republic. Doors open at 9 pm, show at 10, which is great since my poetry workshop is staying a bit longer (til 8) to see a novel reading at Loyola. Some guy who is the partner of one of the English profs, Melaney McKay. So yeah, we're getting tickets right before the show ($12 each) and will enjoy the stylings of MC after a long day. I was sad to hear of so many not knowing about MC Chris (http://www.mcchris.com/), but I'd suggest checking it out for a fun time. Mykie and I will likely haul ass over there.

And here we go, pick the good and bad qualities that make up Dr. Mario, or just Tony:

I always mourn for twenty minutes when September ends, then remember horror flicks and Halloween time is here. Finally getting back to this thing, maybe will keep up this time. Said that before. But now, I give you various bits of the month in no particular order - The Good, the Bad, and the Birthday Pill-Popping (Is the Dr. Mario thing wearing out?):

( Rollercoaster Thursday ) ( Fall 2006 Semester )
Wednesday night after my long day, She Wants Revenge plays at the House of Blues. I’m stoked. They’re a different sound, though they are similar to Joy Division, and I appreciate the enwrapping sexual/lover’s-quarrel mood and the daring lyrics. If you want a sample: http://www.myspace.com/shewantsrevenge (my favorite, though I love the whole album, is “Out of Control”). ( Uncle Chris and Just Say No to Toe Burning Grandma )
I saw “The Descent” with Mykie, my cousin Tracy, and a few of her friends last night. They should have called it “Dykes in a Cave” as that probably would have gotten it more hype for an audience. I didn’t care for it until the action/violence/gore showed up. It was a fun film by that point, otherwise the rest was pretty boring stuff characterizing the ladies as hardcore explorer types. The opening scene was cool, but it took them forever to follow it up in kind. Wednesday nights may be movie nights from now on as AMC has $5 tickets for all showings Mon-Thurs.

Heading to Lafayette for Mechacon in the morning. Waking in 5 hours to take care of dad, set up my temporary replacement with what he needs to know for Friday(a kindly neighbor), and getting the hell out of here for the weekend. I was going to write a few stories, but things have been busy and sort of hard to keep up with around here and there. Oh well. |

( Man’s Alienation from Nature, Machine, and Others )
The Sci-fi Channel's Thursday line-up was the most amusing two-hour block I've seen in awhile. "Who Wants to Be a Superhero?" shot amazement into my face in all of it's humorous, entertaining glory. The preceding showing of Ang Lee's "The Hulk" just brought back bad memories. "Garth Marenghi's Darkplace" and "Amazing Screw-On Head" give me hope for their comedy programming, which has been lacking greatly for awhile. I think Mykie and I shall start a ritual with that programming block and some Woodchuck or other drink of choice. Clerks 2 was too great, so go see it. I now have 91 songs from JAM Project, which includes Voyager (the Panda Z theme). Oh yeah, I definitely enjoyed that after the long morning. Little things indeed. |

( Go Time )
The big picture. School. Da family. Future. Love. Life. Mostly impatience and second-guessing. It all makes me overly introspective and depressed. I can’t help but think about them when I get a chance and try to relax alone. They make it hard to enjoy time off.
The little things. Making Dad smile and laughing with him. Seeing Dad progress each day. Pee Wee’s Playhouse/Larry Fishbourne. [AS] Friday Night Fix. Midget/cheese/bacon burgers. Mocha. No classes. Hanging out. Game Night. Mechacon coming. Possible trip to Texas for KMFDM/Combichrist concert in October/November. They keep my head straight and let me know that life is alright from time to time.
I’ve been watching Dad since finishing with Spring II. Haven’t been out much. Slight cabin fever. Clerks 2 will come (well, we’ll go see it) on some weeknight, on which The Palace (any) only charges $5 and seating will most likely be lax-goings. I felt bad on Saturday night anyway.
School’s out for all of 4-5 weeks. Waiting on final grades. I like the report packaging and dystopian feel of my experimental fiction final project, but of course it’s nowhere near perfect and lacks in certain elements I wanted it to have. I worked on it last weekend when I got the chance, though a lot more came up than I expected to knock off my focus. My dad was let out of the hospital again that Friday afternoon, so my work and free time dwindled from there. I may work on it or just let it rot, but I hope to stop this current apathy toward writing and general brain-work. Probably just some backlash to the semester finally ending. A breather, perhaps. I’ve been listening to She Wants Revenge a lot lately. I’m mesmerized by the songs with their romantic/tragic feel, though they sometimes instigate short bouts of depression and loneliness. Van Halen and AC/DC usually cheer a guy up, though. Hells Bells. |
